Project Icarus: Learning and Research Process

Passion

I'm guessing my passion deals with interacting and observing animals, since I enjoy it so much. When I was younger and still the only child, my parents used to bring me to the Honolulu Zoo every so often. I have pictures and wonderful memories for proof. I also birdwatch during my spare time. My first pets were aquatic. I had fighting fish since my freshman year, but am currently dealing with the loss of a runaway turtle. I needn't worry since there's a nearby stream close to home. I haven't handled or owned exotic animals such as dogs or cats because my mom won't allow them in the house. With that said, it seems I have more experience with marine animals.

Resources

My resources will probably include interviews from MoHS staff such as Biology teachers, Ms. Nishite and Mr. Suyama, as well as Marine Biology teacher, Mr. Yoshioka. I also might include someone I might shadow during my time at the Waikiki Aquarium.

Action/Product

During this quarter, I will make several visits to the Waikiki Aquarium for footage. I will make an effort to schedule appointments for any interviews I might need for this project. I will also go to some of the exhibits/activities. One of them I'm planning to go to is the Aquarium After Dark on May 6, hopefully.

My final product will probably be a video or a published book.
